Our Values
God is the ultimate source of all knowledge and truth and has revealed Himself in Scripture; therefore, The 5and 2 is committed to the authority of the Bible and the integration of biblical principles in all initiatives, decisions, and the operation of the ministry. The pursuit of truth and its application in every area of life comes through understanding the Word of God and knowing Christ. The 5 and 2 intends that everyone involved with our organization will deepen their understanding of Scripture and develop well-founded theological convictions for a life of Christian service. As such the values of The 5 and 2 are derived from the biblical text. The primary value statement sources of the Bible are as follows:
Matthew 22:37-40
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Matthew 28:16-20
16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Isaiah 58:6-12
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. "If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.
Acts 2:42- 47
42They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
From these textual directives we derive our integral core values to which we must adhere strictly and passionately.

The 5 and 2 values relationships, not structures as the basis of our fellowship, mission, and vision.
The 5 and 2 values the opportunities for ministry among the poor, the lost and the broken.
The 5 and 2 values the anointing and all the giftings of the Holy Spirit.
The 5 and 2 values an understanding of the Kingdom of God and the principles that operate in the Kingdom which transcend denominations, culture, class, generation and gender.
The 5 and 2 values the affirmation and empowering of gifted leaders and other members of our community.
The 5 and 2 values maintaining the unity of the body of Christ.
